Six Team Champions Crowned at Asian Senior Zonal Championships
The Asian Senior Zonal Championships concluded in New Delhi, India with three exhilarating days of team competition.

In women’s foil, Japan defeated China in a tactical match 25-18 to top a field of 12 teams.
In the semifinals, Japan bested Hong Kong, China 45-30 while China defeated the Republic of Korea 44-31.
Korea scored a 38-30 victory over Hong Kong, China to take the bronze.

In men’s sabre, Paris 2024 Olympic champion Korea topped a field of 14 teams with a decisive 45-29 victory over Japan.
In the semifinals, Korea defeated Kazakhstan 45-34 and Japan bested China 45-38.
Kazakhstan overcame a 40-38 deficit when Artyom Sarkissyan outscored Shaotong Luo 7-4 in the final leg to win the bronze 45-44.

Men’s epee had the largest field with 19 teams, and Kazakhstan upset Paris 2024 silver medallist and defending World champion (Tbilisi 2025) Japan 45-40 due to a 9-5 final leg by Kirill Prokhodov over defending Olympic (Paris 2024) and World Champion (Tbilisi 2025) Koki Kano.
In Tbilisi, Kazakhstan, which took the bronze, was defeated by Japan in the semifinals 42-41.
In the semifinals, Kazakhstan defeated Korea 45-33 while Japan bested Hong Kong, China 45-22.
Hong Kong, China captured the bronze with a 45-40 victory over Korea.

In women’s sabre, defending Olympic (Paris 2024) and World (Tbilisi 2025) silver medallist Korea topped the 10-team field with a 45-35 victory over Olympic (Paris 2024) bronze medallist Japan.
In the semifinals, Korea bested Uzbekistan 45-27 while Japan defeated China 45-38.
China claimed the bronze with a 45-38 victory over Uzbekistan.

In a field of 17 teams, defending Olympic champion (Paris 2024) Japan defeated Hong Kong, China 45-39 to capture the gold in men’s foil.
After the 5th of 9 legs, Hong Kong, China had a commanding 25-17 lead. However, in the 6th leg, individual gold medallist Kyosuke Matsuyama outscored defending World Champion (Tbilisi 2025) Chun Yin Ryan Choi 9-3, and Shunsuke Baba followed up with a 9-6 leg against Chin Yu Leung to give Japan the lead they would not relinquish.
In the semifinals, Japan defeated China 45-31 and Hong Kong, China overcame Korea 45-36.
China clinched the bronze with a 45-36 victory over Korea.

Korea, the world bronze medallist from Tbilisi 2025, topped a field of 15 by narrowly defeating China 44-43 to take the gold in women’s epee.
In the semifinals, Korea bested Kazakhstan 45-29 while China edged Singapore 45-41.
Kazakhstan defeated Singapore 42-39 to claim the bronze.
