Final Epee Grand Prix in Medellin, Colombia This Weekend

Over 350 of the world’s top epeeists will converge on Medellín, Colombia this weekend for the final Grand Prix of the season, with both the women’s and men’s titles up for grabs.

In the women’s field, all eyes will be on Estonia’s Katrina Lehis and Italy’s Alberta Santuccio. Lehis has surged to the world No. 1 ranking on the strength of her recent form, highlighted by a victory at the Budapest, Hungary Grand Prix in April and a silver medal at the Astana, Kazakhstan World Cup in March. On the men’s side, Kazakhstan’s Ruslan Kurbanov and Egypt’s Mohamed Elsayed are among the leading contenders. Kurbanov, ranked fourth, claimed silver in Astana in March and followed it with a gold-medal performance at the Heidenheim, Germany World Cup in February, which featured the largest field of the season with 396 fencers. Elsayed, the world No. 3 and a bronze medallist at the Paris, France 2024 Olympic Games, has also enjoyed a strong campaign, reaching the podium three times with bronze medals in both Astana and Heidenheim, along with a gold medal in Vancouver, Canada World Cup in December.
