Mr Abdel Moneim El-Husseiny, Interim President of the International Fencing Federation, welcomed Mr Thomas Bach, Honorary President of the International Olympic Committee, to Qatar to attend the Doha Grand Prix for women and men, held in Doha from 23 to 25 January 2026.
The ceremony at Doha Airport was attended by Sheikh Salem Al Qasimi, President of the Asian Fencing Confederation, and Mr Khaled Al Hammadi, Secretary General of the Qatar Fencing Federation.
During the visit in the Aspire Sports Complex, Mr Bach praised the high organisational standards of the event and Qatar’s advanced sports infrastructure, affirming that what he witnessed reflects the country’s leading position in sport and its ability to successfully host major international events.
