New organization of the FIE Grand Prix in Doha in 2014

The FIE will have a new calendar for the 2014-2015 season that will require a much higher level of organization of the Grand Prix. The final will be held either in a prestigious or well-known place. The FIE is planning to sell its TV rights to TV channels on each continent to increase the audience of our sport in the whole world. For the Qatar Grand Prix, the FIE is negotiating with Aljazeera sport and Alkass in order to achieve this objective. More

Yuki Ota elected President of the FIE Athletes Commission

The FIE Athletes Commission elected foil fencer Yuki Ota (JPN) as president during the inaugural meeting on 30 November 2013 in Paris. Italian Olympic Champion Valentina Vezzali became vice-president. The FIE was pleased to welcome Claudia Bokel, Chair of the IOC Athletes Commission and former World Champion in women’s epee, at the meeting. More


FIE refereeing sabre seminar in Paris

The FIE Refereeing Commission established its project of international referees training from 2013 to 2016 to homogenize the level of international referees on the 5 continents. The aim is to clarify the definition of actions that are blurred for referees in order to enhance their refereeing level, which must be as objective as impartial. More


The FIE relaunches the updated Fencing magazine Escrime XXI

The FIE is pleased to announce the relaunch of its quarterly magazine Escrime XXI. The new-look digital magazine has a fresh, modern and impactful design and a raft of interactive features to engage the reader. The magazine will be launched as a webapp viewable across PC and Mac browsers as well as iPad, and will be followed by a newsstand App. More


FIE Congress awards 2014 Fencing World Championships to Kazan

Kazan, Russia, will host the 2014 Fencing World Championships. In 2015, the World Championships will take place in Moscow, Russia. More


FIE statue unveiled at the Olympic Museum in Lausanne

Today, the IOC President Thomas Bach, and Alisher Usmanov, President of the International Fencing Federation (FIE) unveiled a statue presented by the FIE to the Olympic Museum in Lausanne. The “Allegory of Fencing” by Czech artist Václav Cesák was given to the Olympic Museum in celebration of the FIE’s centennial in 2013. More
